Monitoring the success of live communication is what we do best. We analyse the impact of all communication measures that make a company come alive in a direct and personal way. Our core competence is the controlling of marketing activities, in particular trade fairs, events and sponsoring activities.

Proven know-how

FairControl currently carries out over 170 projects annually. The data collection and the results analysis are coordinated and conducted by FairControl itself. We use our own, highly qualified and carefully selected interviewers to gather the primary data. FairControl’s internationally efficient field department currently comprises over 1,100 interviewers and mystery shoppers in Germany and abroad, as well as a base of more than 350 data collectors in the Munich area.

DHBW Ravensburg
FairControl is a partner company of the Duales Hochschule Ravensburg (Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University Ravensburg). We continuously offer students doing the combined vocational training course “Trade Fair/Event and Congress Management” instructive and varied activities in actual practice.

Our history

Milestones since 1998.


The founding of the company

The origins of FairControl go back to Björn Jopen Messeberatung. This is the name under which Björn Jopen and Kim Hellmig founded their company in 1998. A master thesis on the topic of ‘Monitoring success at trade fairs’ was the decisive factor here. Already during the first two years, projects for BMW, Canon, Microsoft, Intel and other customers were successfully implemented.


Company’s name officially changed to FairControl GmbH

The name of the company was officially changed to FairControl GmbH in 2000. At this point in time, the start-up employed three permanent employees and carried out an average of 12 projects each year. A major part of their very first clients have remained loyal to FairControl for more than 15 years.


On an international growth path: FairControl becomes part of the MCI Group.

Since 21 May 2012, FairControl GmbH has been part of the MCI Group. With this merger, FairControl strengthened its position as a specialist in monitoring the success of live communications and is counting on international growth. At this time, FairControl employs a staff of just under 20 and works on more than 150 projects a year from a wide range of areas. Besides lead management solutions, trade fair performance reviews, the analysis of how effective events were and strategic management form an integral part of the firm’s portfolio.

In 2012, FairControl employed 18 permanent employees and, in the autumn of the same year, opened a branch in Shanghai. Budgets for live communications are increasingly being invested in Asia, and the pressure on those responsible to make measures quantifiable and controllable worldwide is, therefore, growing. That is why an “Asia hub” was also strategically important for FairControl. It guarantees cost-efficient processing throughout Asia, without having to forego the usual high quality enjoyed by FairControl market research and consulting projects.


New management at FairControl

Jakov Cavar (40), a well-known market research and consulting specialist, took over the management of FairControl. After working as a consultant at a French consultancy, Jakov Cavar was, for many years, a divisional director at TNS Infratest, one of the world’s largest market research institutes. Since May 2015, he has been pushing forward FairControl’s growth strategy.

2015 was a very successful year for FairControl. More than 170 projects in Germany and abroad were successfully completed to the highest satisfaction of our clients.
